Uber Eats is set to begin delivering food in the U.K. using Starship Technologies’ sidewalk delivery robots, marking a major expansion of autonomous delivery efforts. The robot-powered service will launch later this year.
The companies plan to introduce the service “from select merchants” in Leeds and Sheffield starting in December, with broader rollout expected afterward. Uber also confirmed plans to expand robot deliveries to additional European markets in 2026 and to the U.S. in 2027.
The partnership adds to Uber Eats’ growing list of collaborations with autonomous tech companies. Starship is not the first sidewalk robot provider Uber Eats has relied on—Serve Robotics has operated with Uber in the U.S. for several years, and Uber recently added Avride’s robots to its delivery options earlier this year.

Starship Technologies, known as one of the world’s largest sidewalk robot operators, says it currently has nearly 3,000 six-wheeled robots active across more than 270 locations globally. The robots generally complete deliveries in under 30 minutes and travel short distances of up to two miles.
This partnership signals Uber’s continued push into automated, efficient, and eco-friendly delivery models as it prepares for wider global expansion.
