Egypt has officially launched a new OPPO smartphone factory in Tenth of Ramadan City under a $50 million investment plan, marking a major leap in the nation’s “Egypt Makes Electronics” initiative. The inauguration was led by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly alongside Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.
Spanning 24,000 square meters, the new plant currently employs around 2,000 Egyptians and operates 17 production lines, with plans to expand to 20 by early 2026. Once fully operational, the factory will produce up to 500,000 smartphones monthly, about 5 million devices annually. Models include the Reno12, Reno13, Reno14, A5 Pro, and A6 Pro series, all built to international quality standards.
The factory aims to reduce import dependency, support Egypt’s role in global supply chains, and create thousands of high-value jobs. It also underscores Egypt’s strong public–private partnership strategy, which has already attracted 15 international mobile brands with total investments reaching $200 million.
OPPO plans to begin exporting smartphones from Egypt to Arab and African markets by the end of next year and expand into wearable devices such as smartwatches and wireless earbuds.
