Luxury automaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) says its car factories will remain shut down until at least September 24, marking the third week of halted production after a major cyberattack hit earlier this month.

In a statement, the company told employees, suppliers, and partners that the pause is due to the “controlled restart of our global operations, which will take time.” JLR, owned by Tata Motors, has not shared further details.

The financial impact is massive:

  • The BBC estimates losses at £50 million ($68 million) per week.
  • The Telegraph puts that number closer to £72 million ($100 million).

Suppliers are also under pressure, with some warning they could face bankruptcy if the shutdown continues much longer.

So far, JLR hasn’t revealed who was behind the attack or exactly how much damage was done.
