Donnell Beverly Jr. founded end-of-life planning startup Eazewell after losing both of his parents, transforming personal grief into a business designed to help families through one of life’s hardest moments. To bring the vision to life, Beverly called on longtime friend and nine-time NBA All-Star Russell Westbrook, who quickly joined the project. Former four-time NBA All-Star Kemba Walker also came on board, completing the founding team.

Eazewell is an AI-powered platform that helps families navigate and automate the overwhelming administrative tasks that follow a loved one’s death. Its 24/7 AI assistant guides users through everything from booking funeral services to cancelling credit card accounts. By partnering with hospice care providers, funeral homes, and insurance companies, the platform remains free to use, with premium features available for those who want more advanced support.

Since its 2024 launch, Eazewell has supported over 100,000 families, highlighting the need for streamlined end-of-life solutions. The startup recently rolled out an enterprise platform, enabling hospice providers, senior living facilities, and insurers to integrate Eazewell’s services into their existing systems.

Looking ahead, the company plans to address the rising challenge of managing digital assets after death, with the average person now holding 70 to 100 online accounts.

For Westbrook, the mission aligns with his long-standing commitment to impactful ventures. “Anytime I put my name on anything, I try to find ways to open doors, build trust, and help people,” he said. “This isn’t about me, it’s about families finding ways to get through loss. Using my platform to do that is a no-brainer.”
