Instagram is giving users more control over what shows up in their Reels feed with a new feature called “Your Algorithm,” launched on Wednesday. The tool allows users to view and customize the topics Instagram believes they’re most interested in.
When watching Reels, users will now see a small icon in the upper-right corner that looks like two lines with hearts. Tapping it opens the Your Algorithm dashboard, where Instagram displays a list of topics based on your activity, summarized using AI.

For example, your page may read: “Lately you’ve been into creativity, sports hype, fitness motivation, and skateboarding.” Users can even share this summary to their Stories, similar to how people share their Spotify Wrapped results.
Beneath the summary, Instagram shows a personalized list of topics used to curate your Reels recommendations. You can choose topics you want to see more or less of, and even add new interests that don’t appear on the list.
The update mirrors TikTok’s “Manage Topics” feature introduced last year, which also gives users more control over their For You feed. However, TikTok only offers a small set of broad categories, while Instagram provides a personalized list tailored to each user, with the option to add more.
The feature is now available in the U.S. and will roll out globally in English soon. Instagram says the tool will eventually expand to other parts of the app, including the Explore page, allowing even deeper customization of the overall feed experience.
