Apple is making it easier for Android users to stream Apple TV content on their televisions. On Monday, the company announced that the Apple TV app for Android now supports Google Cast, allowing users to cast video and audio directly to compatible TVs.
The move signals Apple’s growing push to make Apple TV a more competitive streaming service, especially as the industry undergoes rapid consolidation. Netflix and Paramount are battling to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, while Disney is preparing to fold Hulu into its main streaming app.
Apple’s decision comes shortly after Netflix quietly removed Google Cast support from its own app, a change that frustrated many subscribers. By embracing the feature, Apple could attract Android users who are unhappy with Netflix’s decision and looking for alternative streaming platforms.
Although Apple TV has a smaller original content library compared to rivals, it still offers popular titles such as Severance, The Morning Show, Slow Horses, The Studio, and Pluribus, along with the recent summer hit F1. The platform also features live sports, including Friday Night Baseball, Major League Soccer, and Formula 1 races in the U.S.

To use Google Cast, users need to install the Apple TV app from Google Play on Android smartphones, tablets, or foldable devices. Once installed, they can simply tap the Cast icon in the top-right corner of the app to stream content to their TV.
