For Superpanel co-founder and CEO Julien Emery, legal access has always been personal. Growing up in Canada, he saw firsthand how difficult and costly it was to get legal help. He recalls his mother’s car accident and how the resulting legal payout kept his family afloat, but he also remembers how tedious the process of legal intake felt.

Now, with advancements in artificial intelligence, Emery believes that process no longer has to be a bottleneck. Superpanel, founded in 2024 with AI specialist Dingyu Zhang, automates about half of the legal client intake process, handling data collection, feedback, and compliance for plaintiff law firms.

“It engages clients across phone, texting, email, and forums, guiding them through their story and sharing documents,” Emery explained. When uncertainty arises, the system escalates the matter to a human staffer, ensuring accuracy while creating what Emery calls “a digital teammate.”

On Tuesday, Superpanel announced it has raised $5.3 million in seed funding in a round co-led by Outlander VC and Field Ventures. Additional investors include LOI Venture, Zenda Capital, 8-Bit Capital, and Behind Genius Ventures. Emery said the funding will accelerate hiring and expand capabilities for law firms.
