To enable it, users must go to Settings and Privacy > Media Quality and select “Lossless” for Wi-Fi, cellular, and download streaming. The setting must be activated separately on each device. Due to larger file sizes, the feature includes data usage tracking. Lossless streaming works over Wi-Fi but not through Bluetooth connections due to bandwidth limitations.

Users can access the feature through Spotify Connect-compatible devices from manufacturers like Bose, Yamaha, and Bluesound.Spotify covers nearly all tracks in its 100-million-song catalog with lossless support, though some tracks may not be available in the format.

The company had previously delayed the feature multiple times, citing licensing challenges. The launch puts Spotify behind competitors who introduced similar features years earlier – Apple Music added lossless streaming in 2021, while Amazon Music launched its HD tier in 2019 and later made it free.
