Oracle is reshaping its executive leadership as it looks to solidify its place in the AI infrastructure race. The company announced Monday that Clay Magouyrk and Mike Sicilia will take over as co-CEOs, while longtime chief executive Safra Catz transitions to the role of executive vice chair of the board of directors.
Magouyrk, who joined Oracle in 2014 from Amazon Web Services, was a founding member of Oracle’s cloud engineering team and has led its cloud infrastructure business for more than a decade. Sicilia, who joined Oracle through its 2008 acquisition of Primavera Systems, most recently served as president of the company’s industries division.
Catz, who became Oracle’s CEO in 2014, framed the move as a handoff at a moment of strength.
“Today, Oracle is recognized as the cloud of choice for both AI training and inferencing. I’m very proud of that,” she said in a statement. “Oracle’s technology and business have never been stronger. And our breathtaking growth rate points to an even more prosperous future. At this time of strength is the right moment to pass the CEO role to the next generation of capable executives.”

The leadership transition comes as Oracle deepens its AI infrastructure push. The company is a key partner in the $500 billion Stargate Project alongside OpenAI and SoftBank, which aims to build massive data centers in the U.S.
Earlier this month, reports surfaced that Oracle struck a $300 billion compute supply deal with OpenAI and, days later, signed a $20 billion agreement with Meta, further cementing its place as a top supplier of AI computing power.
