Spotify announced on Tuesday that it is expanding Managed Accounts, a parental control feature for kids under 13, to more countries. The feature, previously piloted last year, is now available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, Germany, France, and the Netherlands.
Managed Accounts are designed for Spotify Premium Family members, allowing parents to create separate, music-only accounts for their children. This means kids can enjoy their own playlists and recommendations without affecting their parents’ algorithms or Spotify Wrapped results.
Parents can use Managed Accounts to:
- Restrict explicit content and disable visuals like Canvas videos.
- Control playback of specific artists and songs.
- Limit interactivity features such as messages and other age-gated tools.
This new setup provides a middle ground between Spotify’s Kids app and unrestricted access, letting parents make granular content decisions for their children.
Setting up a Managed Account is simple: Family Plan holders go to their account settings, select “Add a Member,” then choose “Add a listener aged under 13” and follow the setup prompts.

The feature is already available in New Zealand, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia, and is part of Spotify’s wider effort to enhance child safety and comply with global digital regulations.
