Snapchat has begun rolling out its 2025 Snap Recap, offering users a personalized look back at their year on the platform. Announced on Monday, the end-of-year Recap appears as a short video highlighting moments from users’ Snaps, Stories, and Chats, showcasing how they connected and expressed themselves throughout 2025. Users can find their Recap by opening the app, heading to Memories, and tapping on the “Your 2025 Snap Recap” card.
Snapchat’s move follows a broader trend among tech platforms, with services like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Duolingo all releasing their own annual recap experiences.
Alongside the rollout, Snapchat shared new insights into how people used the app over the past year. The company emphasized that phone calls remain popular, revealing that users spent nearly 1.7 billion minutes per day on calls on average, almost 30% more than last year. In the U.S. alone, users sent more than five billion voice notes, marking a nearly 10% year-over-year increase.
Group chats also continued to thrive in 2025. Snapchat reported that the number of users sending messages in group chats grew by more than 5%, with some users sending over 8,880 messages to their most active group chat this year.
Engagement tools also saw notable growth. Chat Reactions increased by 44%, with the heart emoji emerging as the most frequently used reaction. In addition, three million more users turned to stickers as a way to communicate.
The launch of Snap’s 2025 Recap comes amid user backlash over upcoming changes to Memories storage limits. Earlier this year, Snapchat announced plans to cap free Memories storage at 5GB starting next year. Users who exceed the limit will need to subscribe to one of the new paid storage plans.

Under the new pricing, Snapchat’s introductory storage plan offers 100GB for $1.99 per month. Snapchat+ subscribers will receive up to 250GB as part of the $3.99 monthly plan, while Snapchat Platinum users will get up to 5TB for $15.99 per month.
Despite the controversy, Snapchat’s annual Recap reinforces the platform’s focus on personal expression and connection as it closes out 2025.
