Pinterest is responding to user backlash over the surge of “AI slop” across its platform by introducing new controls that let users limit AI-generated images in their feeds.
The feature, available under Settings → Refine your recommendations, allows users to reduce GenAI content in categories like beauty, fashion, art, and home décor. Pinterest said it will expand to more categories over time based on feedback.
The company will also make its AI content labels more prominent and allow users to give feedback on AI-generated Pins directly through the three-dot menu.

Pinterest’s Chief Technology Officer, Matt Madrigal, said the update aims to balance “human creativity and AI innovation,” ensuring each user’s feed feels more authentic.
