Anduril Industries has introduced “EagleEye,” a cutting-edge helmeted computing system designed to transform soldiers into AI-enhanced warfighters. The launch marks a major step in the defense firm’s push to redefine the U.S. Army’s mixed-reality ambitions.

Led by Palmer Luckey, Anduril’s co-founder and the original creator of Oculus (acquired by Meta), the project reflects a fusion of Luckey’s expertise in virtual reality and the firm’s defense innovation goals.

Anduril describes EagleEye as a modular “family of systems” built on its Lattice software platform. The system integrates command-and-control tools, real-time sensor feeds, and AI-driven insights directly into a soldier’s field of vision. It features rear and side sensors to detect threats, live video integration, and real-time teammate tracking, all accessible through variants that include a helmet, visor, and glasses.

The U.S. Army, which previously relied on Microsoft’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS), shifted the mixed-reality program to Anduril in February 2025 after years of technical setbacks. In September, Anduril secured a $159 million contract to develop a new prototype under the Soldier Borne Mission Command initiative, a program aimed at giving every soldier “superhuman perception and decision-making capabilities.”

Earlier this year, Anduril also partnered with Meta to co-develop extended reality (XR) devices for military use, marking an unexpected reunion between Luckey and his former employer.

“My mission has long been to turn warfighters into technomancers,” Luckey said in a blog post. “The products we’re building with Meta do just that.”

EagleEye has been part of Anduril’s vision since its earliest days, though the company initially focused on its Lattice software after investor advice. Luckey hinted at the system’s comeback earlier this year, writing on X,

“Everything is different now. The world is ready, and so is Anduril.”

With EagleEye, Anduril is positioning itself at the forefront of AI-driven defense innovation, setting the stage for a new era of mixed-reality warfare where technology and human capability blend seamlessly.
