A new joint venture called Utopai East has been launched to develop infrastructure that supports AI-driven film and TV production. The 50-50 partnership between Stock Farm Road (SFR) and Utopai Studios aims to accelerate intelligent content creation while maintaining the role of human creativity in storytelling.

SFR, co-founded by Brian Koo and Amin Badr-El-Din, will contribute capital and industry connections, while Utopai Studios, led by Ceilica Shen, brings its AI technology, workflows, and production expertise

The collaboration will also co-produce content and expand access to Korean intellectual property for global audiences, with the first project expected next year.

“Our workflow is designed to work alongside filmmakers, not replace them,” said Shen. “We still need writers, directors, and actors, AI simply expands what they can do.”

The venture coincides with SFR’s deal to build a 3-gigawatt AI data center in South Korea’s Jeollanam-do Province, which will power the entertainment-focused AI ecosystem.

While the joint venture will start with Korean productions, expansion plans include Japan, China, and Thailand, reflecting a broader goal of using AI to enhance, not replace, human creativity in the entertainment industry.
