Google has begun rolling out Gemini to the Google TV Streamer, officially replacing Google Assistant. The upgrade allows users to use more conversational voice commands for entertainment and general questions.

Users can now ask natural queries like, “What’s a movie we can watch together if I like dramas but my wife likes comedies?” or “What happened at the end of Outlander last season?” Gemini can also respond to learning-related requests such as “Explain why volcanoes erupt to my third grader,” or guide users through cooking or DIY projects using YouTube videos.

To activate Gemini, users simply press the microphone button on their TV remote. The rollout will reach users aged 18 and above over the next few weeks.

The move aligns with Google’s plan to phase out Assistant and make Gemini its unified AI experience across devices. The update follows earlier releases of Gemini on select TCL and Hisense TV models and the Walmart Onn 4K Pro streaming device.
