Productivity platform ClickUp has launched its much-anticipated Version 4.0, introducing significant upgrades and new AI features aimed at making it a one-stop solution for work.
According to ClickUp’s official release notes, the update includes:
- A Global Navigation bar that converges tasks, chat, AI, and collaboration tools in one sidebar. help.clickup.com+1
- A Brain Sidebar, acting as a persistent AI assistant accessible from anywhere within the interface. help.clickup.com
- Two distinct AI agents: one embedded across communication channels to proactively answer questions from your workspace and external sources (Google Drive, OneDrive, Figma, Gmail), and another called “Brain” that can generate ideas, schedule meetings, analyse reports and create tasks.
- Enhanced functionality for switching between tasks, documents and communications with fewer clicks, plus a new “team dashboard” view for leaders to monitor work across channels.
- Integration of the enterprise search startup Qatalog (acquired by ClickUp) enabling deeper cross-workspace search and data connection.
ClickUp CEO Zeb Evans described the update as a milestone: “Our vision eight years ago was to replace all your work software… In the age of AI, those primitives (spreadsheets, documents, tasks) are needed to an even greater extent.”
The company currently reports annual recurring revenue of over $300 million and indicates plans to go public within the next two years. The 4.0 release, backed by investors like Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Tiger Global, signals ClickUp’s ambition to compete with workspace and collaboration giants such as Notion, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.
