At Meta Connect 2025, Meta announced a major step forward in its metaverse push with the rollout of Hyperscape Capture. The tool, first demoed last year, lets users scan a room in just minutes and transform it into a photorealistic VR space that can be explored through a Meta Quest headset.

Although scanning is quick, Meta notes the actual rendering takes a few hours. Initially, users won’t be able to invite friends into their recreated rooms, but Meta says a private link sharing feature is coming soon.

To showcase Hyperscape, Meta partnered with celebrities and brands to build featured spaces, including:

  • Gordon Ramsay’s L.A. kitchen
  • Chance the Rapper’s House of Kicks
  • The Octagon at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas
  • Happy Kelli’s Crocs-filled room

The feature uses Gaussian Splatting, cloud rendering, and streaming to achieve lifelike visuals on Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets. Hyperscape is available in Early Access starting today for users 18+, with rollout happening gradually.

Beyond Hyperscape, Meta also revealed new fall VR games:

  • Star Wars: Beyond Victory from ILM
  • Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked
  • Reach

On the entertainment side, Meta’s Horizon TV app is adding Disney+ support (including ESPN and Hulu content for subscribers). Meta also announced a partnership with Universal Pictures and Blumhouse to bring immersive versions of horror movies like M3GAN and The Black Phone into VR. Fans will even get access to a special 3D clip of Avatar: Fire and Ash for a limited time.
