The company said hackers gained access to sensitive personal data, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, and details about how much customers spent in stores. Kering emphasized that credit card numbers were not stolen.

According to the BBC, the cyberattack was carried out by the notorious hacking group ShinyHunters, which claimed responsibility and said it obtained data linked to 7.4 million email addresses. Kering did not disclose the exact number of affected customers but confirmed that it has reached out to those impacted by the breach.

The incident raises fresh concerns about cybersecurity in the luxury retail sector, where wealthy clients are prime targets for hackers seeking to exploit personal and financial information.
