Three ex-Google X researchers have launched TwinMind, securing $5.7 million in seed funding for their AI app that acts as a digital memory companion. The startup, founded by Daniel George, Sunny Tang, and Mahi Karim, creates an AI-powered “second brain” by continuously listening to ambient conversations with user permission.
TwinMind differentiates itself from competitors like Otter by capturing audio passively throughout the day, building personal knowledge graphs from meetings, lectures, and conversations. The app processes audio locally, works offline for 16-17 hours without draining battery, and supports real-time translation in over 100 languages.

The platform serves over 30,000 users, with 15,000 active monthly users across the US, India, Brazil, and other markets. Users include 50-60% professionals, 25% students, and 20-25% personal users. The company emphasizes privacy by deleting audio immediately after transcription and storing only text locally.
TwinMind also offers a Chrome extension that uses visual AI to scan browser tabs and interpret content from email, Slack, and Notion. The startup has introduced the Ear-3 speech model supporting 140+ languages with a 5.26% word error rate, available via API at $0.23/hour.
The seed round was led by Streamlined Ventures with participation from Sequoia Capital, valuing the company at $60 million. TwinMind offers a free version and a $15/month Pro subscription with expanded features.
