Awake forces heavy sleepers to complete puzzles, exercises, and tasks before silencing alarms.

A new iOS app called Awake launched Monday, designed to help heavy sleepers break the cycle of hitting snooze. Unlike traditional alarm clocks that shut off with a tap, Awake requires users to complete interactive missions to disable their alarms.
Available exclusively on devices running iOS 26, the app leverages Apple’s new Alarm Kit framework to introduce smarter wake-up tools. Missions include physical and mental challenges such as rotating the iPhone, solving math problems, doing push-ups, or completing puzzles and language lessons. By engaging both body and mind, Awake aims to ensure users fully wake up and start their day actively.
Awake differentiates itself from other apps like Alarmy and Mathe Alarm with unique features, including:
- Morning Briefing: a customizable summary of weather, calendar events, and updates set the night before.
- Block integration: temporarily blocks social media access immediately after waking.
- Sleep planning: calculates optimal bedtime based on preferred wake-up time and desired rest.
The app was developed by Leo Mehlig, creator of the popular planner app Structured. He said the idea stemmed from high demand among Structured users and was made possible after Apple introduced the Alarm Kit framework with iOS 26.
Awake is free to download, with a premium subscription available for $6.49 per month or $19.99 per year. Premium unlocks advanced missions like scanning a QR code, turning on a light, walking a set number of steps, or reciting a mantra.

Looking ahead, Mehlig plans to add a “Wake Up Check” feature that tracks users’ movements after missions. If no activity is detected, the app will trigger another alarm to prevent users from falling back asleep.
