Canva, the popular creative suite platform, has unveiled a series of powerful new updates, including its first AI-powered design model, enhanced AI assistant, new product features, and a marketing analytics platform called Canva Grow.

The company announced that its new foundational design model, trained on Canva’s extensive library of creative elements, can now generate editable, layered designs instead of flat images. This allows users to tweak each element, from shapes and text to layouts, across formats such as social media posts, presentations, whiteboards, and websites.

“We started with flat image generation using diffusion models, but users wanted more control,” said Robert Kawalsky, Canva’s Global Head of Product. “Now, they can start with a prompt, get creative results, and iterate directly themselves.”

Expanding Canva’s AI Capabilities

Canva’s AI assistant, now branded as Canva AI, is becoming more integrated across the platform. The tool, which works via a chat-like interface, can be accessed in the Design and Elements tabs, and even mentioned in comments to suggest text, images, or design edits in real-time.

Canva AI can now generate 3D objects, replicate art styles, and analyze design data for smarter recommendations. It builds on Canva’s earlier launch of a spreadsheet tool and a prompt-based mini app creator, both now connected to let users transform stored data into interactive widgets for repeatable insights.

Introducing Canva Grow

Following its acquisition of MagicBrief, an ad analytics company, Canva is debuting Canva Grow, a full-stack AI marketing platform that combines asset creation, performance analytics, and ad publishing. Marketers can now design and deploy ads directly to platforms like Meta, leveraging AI-driven creative insights.

New Product Features

The update also brings fresh tools to the Canva ecosystem:

  • Canva Forms: Enables users to create custom forms for client feedback or data collection, rivaling Google Forms.
  • Email Design Suite: Lets users design and personalize branded marketing emails and transactional messages.
  • Affinity Integration: Canva confirmed that Affinity, its professional design suite acquired last year, is now free forever. The tool’s redesigned interface merges vector, pixel, and layout design capabilities, and integrates directly with Canva.
